CuppyTv Advocate Standards
What it means to carry the Advocate name.
Being a CuppyTv Advocate means you've chosen to stand for something — and you're willing to help other people stand with you.
Different Advocates will champion different things. You don't have to agree with every Advocate, Cause or Initiative in the network.
But everyone carrying the CuppyTv Advocate name agrees to these standards.
1. Stand for something real.
Champion things you genuinely believe in.
Don't claim causes, experiences, credentials, relationships or expertise that aren't yours.
What you stand for can evolve. Just be truthful about it.
2. Tell the truth.
Don't fabricate or knowingly misrepresent stories, statistics, needs, results, money raised, impact created, partnerships, endorsements or your relationship with CuppyTv.
If you don't know something, say so.
Trust is part of the impact.
3. Treat people like people.
People are not content.
Someone experiencing debt, homelessness, illness, hardship or crisis deserves dignity whether a camera is there or not.
Never exploit someone's worst moment to make yourself — or CuppyTv — look good.
4. Get permission before telling someone else's story.
Don't publicly share another person's private circumstances, identity, photos, medical or financial information, children or sensitive story without appropriate permission.
When you're unsure, don't publish it yet.
Bring it to CuppyTv.
5. Never promise what you don't control.
Don't promise money, debt payoff, housing, medical assistance, sponsorship, selection, prizes, employment, media coverage or help from CuppyTv unless you're specifically authorized to make that commitment.
Advocate for possibilities.
Don't manufacture guarantees.
6. Advocate hard. Treat people well.
Disagreement is allowed.
Harassment isn't.
No threats, hate, intimidation, bullying, discrimination, exploitation, doxxing or directing your community to attack someone.
We can fight for something without fighting everybody.
7. Your advocacy is yours. The network belongs to everyone.
CuppyTv doesn't own what you care about.
And becoming an Advocate doesn't give anyone ownership of a Cause.
Other people may stand for it.
Other Advocates may champion it.
Other Initiatives may approach the same problem differently.
That's not a threat to your advocacy.
That's the network getting stronger.
Collaborate when it makes sense. Share resources. Stand behind another Advocate's Initiative when it helps move the Cause forward.
8. Be transparent when money is involved.
If you receive commissions, sponsorship, products, benefits or another financial interest connected to something you're promoting, disclose it where appropriate and required.
Never imply that a purchase, membership, contribution or other financial action guarantees selection, assistance, influence, prizes or preferential treatment.
Never use someone's hardship to manipulate a sale.
9. You're an Advocate — not a spokesperson for CuppyTv.
Being part of the Advocate Network does not make you an employee, agent or authorized spokesperson for CuppyTv.
Speak for what you stand for.
Don't claim to speak on behalf of CuppyTv unless CuppyTv has specifically authorized you to do so.
10. Protect the network.
Don't create fake supporters, buy fake participation, manipulate referrals, impersonate people, spam users, misuse private information or attempt to game CuppyTv's systems.
The numbers only matter if they're real.
11. Follow the rules where you operate.
Advocates are responsible for following applicable laws, platform rules, disclosure requirements and CuppyTv policies when participating in the network.
CuppyTv may provide tools and guidance. Advocate status does not authorize conduct that would otherwise be prohibited.
12. CuppyTv may protect the network.
CuppyTv may pause, restrict or remove Advocate privileges when reasonably necessary to protect people, privacy, trust, safety, the integrity of the network or CuppyTv itself.
Where appropriate, we'll try to resolve problems before removing someone.
But protecting people and the integrity of the network comes first.
The standard is simple.
Stand for something real.
Tell the truth.
Treat people like people.
Protect their dignity.
And use your influence to move something forward.
That's what it means to be a CuppyTv Advocate.
These Standards work alongside CuppyTv's Terms of Service and other applicable policies.
